Desy learned these three Danish reels from the band ‘Ashplant’ when he lived in Denmark in the 1990s. The band then comprised of Martin O'Hare (bodhrán), Peter Sørensen (fiddle), Henrik Bjørslev (flute) and Joakim Friis-Holm (bouzouki). When Desy introduced this set of tunes to the band we collectively found it very interesting discovering similarities between the traditional music of two distinct cultures. On a side note, it was also very satisfying to raid something back from the Vikings!

Class playing by everyone, it's hard to find trad music that's so well arranged without sounding 'too new.' I'd put this album up with any of the old classics.
Also, as a bouzouki player, it's nice to hear the instrument so high in the mix, especially when it's played so skillfully. zefferoni

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
