Tracy found this song in the book ‘I have travelled this country, Songs of Cathal McConnell’ by the legendary County Fermanagh flute player and singer; the collection was collated by County Louth fiddle player, Gerry O’Connor. The song appears in Sam Henry’s ‘Songs of the People’ and was originally published in the Coleraine newspaper, ‘The Northern Constitution’, on 16th October 1926. Credit for the song lyrics were given to a John J Marshall of Ardenlee Gardens, Belfast; a street where Ruadhrai lived for a couple of years at the start of this century!

Class playing by everyone, it's hard to find trad music that's so well arranged without sounding 'too new.' I'd put this album up with any of the old classics.
Also, as a bouzouki player, it's nice to hear the instrument so high in the mix, especially when it's played so skillfully. zefferoni

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
